Dear Friends,
I am writing to you to tell you about my experiences in English Compostition 100 at Delaware County Community College. In the begining of the semester we started it off with Mr. Mangini telling us that we were not going to have Quizes, a midterm or a final. This made me think this class was going to be super easy. I was wrong. His class is a different type of class instead of doing all of that we had blog post and honestly i think the blog post were alot harder than quizes probably are. I like to write what I find interesting, I dont like to write about what i get told to write about so this was a challenge. I accepted that challenge and I was very excited, During this time I was balancing school work which in the begining was a lot. I was getting a dog, and I was finishing fire school so then I would be certified to run into burning buildings. It was a lot of things to juggle and I tried my best. I liked going to class they were very entertaing Mr. Mangini had a different view on topics that were happening and his teaching style was different. I liked it alot. One of our first blog post was a fictional writers round table. We read three reading one was How can you create fiction when reality comes to call by Carolyn Chute another was Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott and the final one was Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury. We had to pick quotes from each and form a conversation between the three writers and myself talking about how to be a better writer. My favorite out of the three was Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life by Anne Lamott because it really helped me start to like writing, the story is about a girl her brother has a book report to write on birds and he’s struggling and their father says take it bird by bird. I took that as take it word by word. When I found out that we were blogging I was happy but that soon changed. I do not like posting my work for everybody to see. My writing coming into this class was pretty bad and leaving this class I think it improved a little bit. I think I could have handled my time management a little better but I think I did alright. I Revised my website to the best of my ability and I added somethings and deleted somethings. That was pretty much my semester in English Compostition 100 with Professor Mangini. I really liked the class, he’s a great Professor really connects with the class. Thanks for listening.
